Amrap Chart Wrap: Ash Grunwald and Biscotti hit the top

The Amrap Metro and Amrap Regional Chartsprovide insight into what’s gaining airplay and attention on community radio. The charts show the top ten tracks ordered for airplay by community broadcasters through the Amrap’s AirIt music distribution service. This week Biscotti hold onto #1 in the Amrap Metro Chart, while Ash Grunwald rises to the top position in the Amrap Regional Chart.

Biscotti maintains the #1 spot in the Amrap Metro Chart with Instamatic, and also debuts at #8 in the Amrap Regional Chart. Biscotti dropped by The Breakfast Spreadon PBS Melbourne to chat about debut album Like Heaven In The Movies. She spoke of the album’s conceptual development based around creating a soundtrack for a film that doesn’t exist, and also programmed Musical Chairs, where she shared her favourite tunes and musical inspirations. Instamatic has been added to RTRFM’s Sound Selection and her debut album featured as Triple R’s Album of the Week was included in PBS Melbourne’s Top Ten, 4ZZZ Brisbane’s Music Department Picks and 2SER Sydney’s Servin’ Up new music list.

Ash Grunwald moves up to #1 in the Amrap Regional Chart with Hammer. Ash previously stopped by Radio Adelaide and chatted to Soph and Chris from The Range about the development of his last album, Now, whilst also treating listeners to an intimate acoustic set. Hammer, the latest single from the Melbourne-based blues/roots artist, has received regional airplay support from Harvey Community Radio in WA, Nambucca Valley Radio and 2SEA in NSW, Radio Alexandrina, 5 Triple Z and Hills Radio in SA, Coast FM, Noosa FM, Fraser Coast FM and Rainbow FM in QLD, as well as 3MDR, 3RPC, 979fm, 3WBC, 3NRG, North West FM, Yarra Valley FM, Inner FM, Voice FM, and Radio Murrindindi in VIC.

Methyl Ethel retains their hold on the #2 slot in the Amrap Metro Chart, whilst also taking #5 in the Amrap Regional Chart with Ubu. Jake Webb, the lead singer from Methyl Ethel, drops by Breakfast with Caitlin on RTRFM Perth to chat about his busy past two years, creating music for an unborn baby, redeveloping the band’s live set and upcoming album Everything is Forgotten. Jeff Lang rises up to #2 in the Amrap Regional Charts with Burnside. Burnside has amassed airplay from Artsound FM in ACT, 5 Triple Z and Three D Radio in SA, Coast FM, Fraser Coast FM and Noosa FM in QLD, TLC FM, Bay FM, 2SEA, 2BOB, and Highland FM in NSW, as well as 979fm, North West FM, Yarra Valley FM, Inner FM, Mountain District Radio, Whitehorse Boroondara Community Radio, 3WAY and 3NRG in VIC.

Emily Wurramara is going strong at #3 in both the Amrap Metro and Amrap Regional Charts with the empowering single Hey Love. Emily joins Nic on 2SER Sydney’s Breakfast Programto speak about the strength and unity Indigenous Australians display in the face of racism. She touches on writing the track in response to her mother’s experiences with racial discrimination during high school, and also reveals her shock when being asked to represent Australia at the International Folk Alliance in Kansas. Hey Love has been added to RTRFM’s Sound Selection, featured in 4ZZZ Brisbane’s Top 20 and has received further airplay support from Voice of the Avon in WA, Umeewarra Media and Radio Alexandrina in SA, Coffs Coast Community Radio, Nambucca Valley Radio, Coast FM, Bay FM, 2BBB, 2SEA, and 2MCR in NSW, as well as 979fm, Triple R, Radio Murrindindi, 3MDR, 3WAY, 3WBC, 3NRG, Inner FM and Tribe FM in VIC.

The Cactus Channel & Sam Cromack make their Amrap Metro Chart debut at #4 with Sorry Hills. The alt-soul/indie pop track from the Melbourne instrumental group, with Sam Cromack on vocal duties, features in FBi Radio Sydney’s New Music List and Edge Radio Hobart’s New Music List. Sorry Hills has received nationwide airplay from Voice of The Avon in WA, 5 Triple Z and Fleurieu FM in SA, Coast FM and Noosa Community Radio in QLD, Eastside Radio, 2RRR, Bay FM, 2RDJ, 2BOB and 2MCR in NSW, as well as 3MGB, 3WBC, 3MDR, 3NRG, 3CR, 3RPC, and Sunraysia Community Radio in VIC.

The Creases feature in the Amrap Regional Chart for the second week, with Everybody Knows taking the #4 position. The high energy rock song has been added to 4ZZZ Brisbane’s Top 20 and also received further airplay support from Tribe FM in SA, Voice of The Avon in WA, Radio Murrindindi, 3WBC, 3MDR, Sunraysia Community Radio and Inner FM in VIC, as well as Triple H FM, SWR FM, Coast FM, 2RDJ and 2SSR in NSW.

Glitoris make their return to the Amrap Metro Chart by taking out #5 with Trump Card. Watch the official video for the explosive punk protest track as featured via Amrap Pages, on station websites including 4ZZZBrisbane, 2GLFin NSW, 2XXCanberra, RTRFMand Heritage FMin WA as well as 979fmand Triple Rin VIC. Trump Card has been added to RTRFM’s ‘Sound Selection’, SYN Radio’s Sweet 16 and also 4ZZZ Brisbane’s Top 20, and has earned further airplay from Three D Radio in SA, 2SEA and Yass FM in NSW, Voice of The Avon, Harvey Community Radio and Heritage FM in WA, as well as 979fm, Plenty Valley FM, Phoenix FM, 3WAY FM, and OCR FM in VIC.

The Jungle Giants enter the Amrap Metro Chart with Feel The Way I Do charting at #6. Sam, the lead singer from the band, called in to The Range on Radio Adelaide back in June of 2016 to discuss the serendipitous recording process for the band’s second album, Speakerzoid. He also touched on his new writing schedule and regime, and the band’s hopes to self-produce their upcoming album. Listen to the interview here. The curiously abstract yet melodic pop-rock track has been featured on 4ZZZ Brisbane’s Top 20 and seen further airplay from Harvey Community Radio and Voice of the Avon in WA, 5 Triple Z and PBA FM in SA, Coast FM and 4OUR in QLD, FBi Radio, 2UUU, 2RRR and 2MCR in NSW as well as 3NRG, Inner FM, Sunraysia Community Radio and Radio Murrindindi in VIC.

Chris Staff makes an appearance at #6 in the Amrap Regional Chart with Storm’s a Comin’. The strong guitar-driven and harmonica-laden track has amassed airplay across the country from Voice of The Avon and Radio Mama in WA, Northside Radio, 2EAR and 2CHR in NSW, Noosa FM, Fraser Coast FM, Burnett River Radio and Coast FM in QLD, Radio Alexandrina, 5 Triple Z, Coast FM and Hills Radio in SA, as well as 3MDR Mountain District Radio, Inner FM, 3WAY FM, Voice FM, Radio Murrindindi, 3MGB, NRG FM, and Eastern FM in VIC.

The Teskey Brothers feature in the Amrap Metro Chart at #7 and debut at #9 in the Amrap Regional Chart with Pain and Misery. Watch the official video for the soulfully emotive track as featured via Amrap Pages on station websites including Edge RadioHobart, Triple RMelbourne, and RTRFMPerth. The Teskey Brothers’ latest album Half Mile Harvest was listed as PBS FM’s Feature Album and has also featured in Triple R’s Soundscape.

The Waifs debut at #7 in the Amrap Regional Chart with Ironbark. The powerful yet delicate anthem has amassed airplay support from Rainbow FM in QLD, 5 Triple Z, Radio Goolwa, Alex FM and 5GTR FM in SA, Voice of The Avon, Heritage FM and Albany Community Radio in WA, 3MDR, 979fm, Plenty Valley FM, Seymour FM and 3WBC in VIC, as well as Eastside Radio, Northside Radio, 2SEA, 2NUR FM, 2AIR FM, Bay FM and Nambucca Valley Radio in NSW.

The Clouds leapfrog up to #8 in the Amrap Metro Chart with Mabel’s Bookshop. The first new material from the band in 20 years has been added to 4ZZZ Brisbane’s Top 20 and also earned airplay from Harvey Community Radio in WA, 5 Triple Z in SA, Yass FM and 2SSR in NSW, 3NRG, Sunraysia Community Radio and Radio Murrindindi in VIC.

Rag ’N’ Bone enter the Amrap Metro Chart at #9 with grunge-rock track Pissy Flow. Rag n’ Bone dropped into Breakfast with Caitlin on RTRFM Perth and had a chat about touring to Singapore, playing their first shows in China in half-built warehouses, and finding fans on the other side of the world. Kiera and Axel treat the audience to a stripped back live acoustic set, which you can listen back to here. Pissy Flow has been included in RTRFM’s Sound Selection and received more airplay from PBA FM in SA, 2SER Sydney, Harvey Community Radio and Heritage FM in WA, as well as 3MDR, 3NRG, 3RPP and 3WAY FM in VIC.

Dana Crowe appears in the Amrap Regional Chart for the third consecutive week, with Everything taking out the #10 spot. Watch the official video for the steadily building track as featured via Amrap Pages, on station websites including Voice of The Avonin WA,Inner FM in VIC, and Northside Radioin NSW. Everything has earned airplay from The Voice of The Midlands in TAS, Fraser Coast FM and Noosa FM in QLD, Voice of the Avon and Heritage FM in WA, Hills Radio, 5 Triple Z, Tribe FM, and Coast FM in SA, Triple H, Northside Radio and 2CHR FM in NSW, as well as 3RPC, 3WAY FM, 3WBC, Radio Murrindindi, Plenty Valley FM and Inner FM in VIC.
