Amrap Chart Wrap: A.B. Original and changoTRee Top Community Radio Charts

The Amrap Metro and Amrap Regional Charts provide insight into what’s gaining airplay and attention on community radio. The charts show the top ten tracks ordered for airplay by community broadcasters through the Amrap’s AirIt music distribution service. This week sees A.B. Original andchangoTRee take the top spots.

A.B. Original enter the Amrap Metro Chart at the lofty spot of #1 with January 26 off their brand new debut album Reclaim Australia, having picked up Feature Album on SYN Melbourne, and spots in 4ZZZ Brisbane’s Top 20, Triple R’s Soundscape and PBS FM Melbourne’s Top 10, as well as 2SER’s Servin’ U and FBi Radio Sydney’s New Music List. changoTRee are still flying high in the Amrap Regional Chart, holding onto the top spot with their roots blues single Justa Little Bit. The band recently joined Radio Marinara on Triple R for a live-to-air set and interview, chatting about their beginnings and name change, and their commitment to ocean conservation. Methyl Ethel are still going strong in the Amrap Metro and Regional Charts, taking #2 and #4 respectively with No. 28. The popular single has picked up spots in SYN Melbourne’s Sweet 16, RTR FM Perth’s Sound Selection and FBi Radio Sydney’s new music list. Lonelyspeck have held onto #3 in the Amrap Metro Chart with All my Skin on the Air, having picked up spots in RTR FM Perth’s Sound Selection, SYN Melbourne’s Sweet 16 and FBi Radio Sydney’s new music list, as well as additional airplay at stations including Heritage FM in WA, Valley FM and 2XX Canberra, 2RDJ and Edge FM in NSW, Bay FM and Burnett River Community Radio in QLD, Voice FM, OCR FM, 3GCR and Southern FM in VIC, as well as 5GTR, Fleurieu FM, Tribe FM, Hills Radio and 5 Triple Z in SA.

Brian Cadd & the Bootleg Family Band appear for the fourth time in the Amrap Regional Chart, grabbing #3 with Long Time ’till the First Time, having racked up airplay across the country at stations including 2MCR in NSW, Albany Community Radio in WA, Fleurieu FM, Coast FM, PBA FM, and 5 Triple Z in SA, 3WAY FM, 3RPC, Sunraysia Community Radio, 3WBC and 3MDR in VIC, as well as Fraser Coast FM, Valley FM, 4OUR FM, Coast FM, and Gin Gin’s Own in QLD. Freya Josephine Hollick has held on tight to #4 in the Amrap Metro Chart with A Man is the Water, having picked up spots in 2SER Sydney’s Servin’ Up and Triple R Melbourne’s Soundscape. Benny Walker takes #5 in his fifth Amrap Regional charting week with Save. The Echuea singer recently joined Wirritjin on Bay FM for a live performance, and treated community radio makers from across the country to a live performance at the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia’s 2016 conference. Ribongia has leap-frogged to #5 in the Amrap Metro Chart with We Run Tings (Feat. Footsie). Antonio Rosselli Del Turco AKA Ribongia co-hosts Bare Necessities on FBi Click, FBi Radio Sydney’s digital iteration. The Sydney producer is nominated for Record of the Year in FBi Radio Sydney’s annual SMAC Awards for his EP Escapisms from earlier in the year.

Sarah Blasko sails into the Amrap Regional Chart at #6 with My Love Grows, having amassed airplay across the country at stations including Albany Community Radio in WA, Northside Radio in NSW, 5 Triple Z and Fleurieu FM in SA, Fraser Coast FM, Bay FM and Noosa FM in QLD, as well as 3RPC, North West FM, Sunraysia Community Radio, Inner FM, 3NRG and Radio Murrindindi in VIC.

The hardest working band in Australia King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are back, taking #6 in the Amrap Metro Chart with Rattlesnake, the first single off their new record Flying Microtonal Banana. The microtonal single is featured in 4ZZZ Brisbane’s Top 20 new music list. #7 in the Amrap Regional Chart goes to Dreamboogie with Don’t you Feel my Leg. The band dropped by Blues on the Hillon Sunbury Community Radio for an interview, spinning a bunch of tracks from their new album Wearin’ it Out. They’ve also racked up additional airplay in every state and territory at stations including Huon FM in TAS, Voice of the Avon in WA, Gove FM in NT, 4EB and Valley FM in QLD, Tribe FM, 5 Triple Z and Hills Radio in SA, OCR FM, Voice FM, 3WAY, 3MGB, Southern FM, 3WBC and Seymour FM in VIC, as well as Nambucca Valley Radio, 2MIA, Vox FM, Port Stephens FM and 2BOB in NSW.

Cloves appears in the Amrap Metro Chart for the first time at #7 with Better Now having picked up spots in FBi Radio Sydney’s new music list and SYN Melbourne’s Sweet 16. The singer has racked up further airplay across the country at stations including RTR FM Perth, Star FM in TAS, 5 Triple Z in SA, Coast FM and Bay FM in QLD, 2SEA, 2EAR and Eastside Radio in NSW, as well as Sunraysia Community Radio, Whitehorse Borrondara Community Radio and 3MDR in VIC.

Ashleigh Dallas debuts at #8 in the Amrap Regional Chart with Lighthouse. Watch the luminous film clip for the sweet sounding country single as featured via Amrap Pages on 3MDR in VIC and Fraser Coast FM in QLD’s station websites. The sentimental song has received further airplay far and wide at stations including Radio Mama in WA, Gippsland Community Radio, Great Ocean Radio and 3RPC in VIC, Alex FM, Coast FM and 5 Triple Z in SA, Fraser Coast FM, 4GCR and 4YOU in QLD, as well as Nambucca Valley Radio, Northside Radio, Central Hunter Radio, and Lauchlan Valley Community Radio in NSW.

Heads of Charm join the Amrap Metro Chart at #8 with Okay yes Please having picked up a spot in RTR FM Perth’s Sound Selection. The Melbourne band was interviewed on their hometown station PBS FM’s Shock Treatment earlier this year.

Jess Holland sails into the Amrap Regional Chart at #9 with Aint Quittin’ this Run. The Mudgee-based artist has received airplay in regional areas across the country at stations including Star FM in TAS, Northside Radio and Nim FM in NSW, 4YOU and 4GCR in QLD, Voice of the Avon and Radio Mama in WA, Radio Alexandrina, Coast FM and 5 Triple Z in SA, as well as Apple FM, Hot FM, Inner FM, 3WAY and 3WBC in VIC.

Christopher Port retains a place in the Amrap Metro Chart, taking #9 with My Love. The shuffling single has picked up spots in RTR FM Perth’s Sound Selection and FBi Radio Sydney’s new music list, as well as airplay around the country at stations including Burnett River Community Radio in QLD, 2RRR and Vox FM in NSW, as well as Fresh FM, 5 Triple Z and 5GTR in SA.

Slum Sociable take out #10 in the Amrap Regional Chart with Name Call. They have also received some radio success in metro areas, obtaining spots in FBi Radio Sydney’s new music list, Edge Radio Hobart’s Recommended list and SYN Melbourne’s Sweet 16.

Frida joins the ranks of the Amrap Metro Chart, taking #10 with Everything (is You). Their new EP I Want in Your Head is listed in Triple R’s Soundscape and fellow Melbourne station PBS FM’s Top Ten. The band joined their hometown station Triple R Melbourne for an interview and live performance, including a rendition of the charting track. They chatted about making friends on tour in Singapore, their new label and the legacy of Sharon Jones.
