Amrap Chart Wrap: Gold Class and A Band Called Twang Move Into Top Spots In The Community Radio Charts

The Amrap Metro and Amrap Regional Charts provide insight into what’s gaining airplay and attention on community radio. The charts show the top ten tracks ordered for airplay by community broadcasters through the Amrap’s AirIt music distribution service. This week sees Gold Class rise to #1 in the Amrap Metro Chart, with A Band Called Twang ascending to #1 in the Amrap Regional Chart.

Melbourne’s Gold Class have leapt into #1 in the Amrap Metro Chart with the track ‘Get Yours’. Evan and Adam from the four-piece recently dropped by Static on 2ser Sydney, where they chatted about recording sophomore album Drum, how all members of the band have to commit to and approve before they’ll finish writing a song, the band’s experiences touring overseas and how different crowds in different countries engage and react when the band play live. ‘Get Yours’ was included in FBi Radio’s New Music List, SYN’s Sweet 16, Edge Radio’s New Music List, 4ZZZ’s Top 20, with the band’s sophomore record previously being featured as Triple R’s Album of the Week, PBS FM’s Feature Record and 2ser’s Album of the Week. Forevr move into #2 in the Amrap Metro Chart with ‘Halogen Glass’. Forevr’s double album release, Classics / Death Is A Miracle, were included on FBi Radio’s New Music List and 4ZZZ’s Top 20, with both albums also featuring side-by-side as Edge Radio’s Album of the week. ‘Halogen Glass’ received airplay from HFM in WA, 2CCC and 2ser in NSW, as well as Gippsland FM, 96.5 Inner FM and Plenty Valley FM in VIC, and 5THE FM, 5BBB, 5 Triple Z and Tribe FM in SA.

Benny Walker enters the Amrap Regional Chart at #2 with ‘Ghost’. Jen Cloher takes out #3 during her fourth charting week in the Amrap Metro Chart with the track ‘Regional Echo’. Jen recently visited Test Pattern on Triple R Melbourne, to chat about the reflective nature of her fourth self-titled record. She also delved into how this album was heavily influenced not only by her own personal relationship, but also by the politics and events going on in both Australia and the rest of the world. She also stuck around to play a live set with her band in the RRR Performance Space, which is available to watch here. Taking out #4 in the Amrap Metro Chart is The Ocean Party with ‘More To Run’. Snowy and Lochy from the group dropped by The Breakfast Spread on PBS FM in Melbourne to chat about how they used to cover Dire Straits and Roy Orbison in their early gigs and their motivations for including regional dates in their tours. They also delve into their latest album Beauty Point and combining studio times with holidays in order to help the creative process. The Ocean Party’s seventh album, Beauty Point, was included in 2ser’s SERvin’ Up and Triple R’s Soundscapes, with ‘More To Run’ featuring in FBi Radio’s New Music List. Andrew and James from Black Cab joined Afterglow on PBS FM Melbourne, where they delved into learning about Akira’s solid cult-following (the classic anime film which inspired their album of the same name), how their experience with this particular project sits in regards to their previous releases, and their plans for future Black Cab releases. She discusses her past as a YouTube star, how the song ‘Cheesecake’ lost her record deals, and she also plays acoustic versions of tracks from her new album Permanent Vacation including ‘Body Goals’. Emma’s latest album was included in Triple R’s Soundscapes, PBS FM’s Top 10 and 2ser’s SERvin’ Up. He also stopped by Get Down on Triple R in his home of Melbourne to speak on larger issues, such as the debate surrounding January 26 and using his music to shine a light on Indigenous issues. Citizen Kay enters the Amrap Metro Chart at #9 with ‘Static’.
