Methyl Ethel and Saskwatch Hold Onto Top Spots in the Community Radio Charts

The Amrap Metro and Amrap Regional Charts provide insight into what’s gaining airplay and attention on community radio. The charts show the top ten tracks ordered for airplay by community broadcasters through the Amrap’s AirIt music distribution service. This week Methyl Ethel continue their hold on #1 in the Amrap Metro Chart, whileSaskwatch also maintains the top position in the Amrap Regional Chart.

Methyl Ethel sit at #1 once more in the Amrap Metro Chart, and also appear at #10 in the Amrap Regional Chart with L’Heure des Sorcières. Jake Webb, lead singer and songwriter for the Perth-based trio, joined Lauren and Simon on Breaking and Entering at Triple R Melbourne to discuss their recently released second album Everything Is Forgotten. The enthralling and insightful interview touches on the development of the dark, nocturnal sounds and textures on the album, the difficulties of songwriting and the varying incarnations of the band. The album was FBi Radio Sydney’s Album of the Week, featured on Triple R Melbourne’s Soundscapes, 4ZZZ Brisbane’s Music Department Picks and 2SER Sydney’s Servin Up, whilst the dark and fantastical L’Heure des Sorcières has been included on Edge Radio Hobart’s New Music List.

Saskwatch take out #1 in the Amrap Regional Chart for the second week, whilst also charting at #2 in the Amrap Metro Chart with the groove-heavy track December Nights. The band stopped by Breakfasters Live on Triple R Melbourne in April of 2016 to perform a mesmerising acoustic rendition of Sorry I Let It Come Between Us, from their 2015 LP of the same title. The charting track has been added to RTRFM Perth’s Sound Selection, 2SER Sydney’s Servin’ Up and also SYN Radio’s Sweet 16, with further airplay from Edge Radio Hobart, Harvey Community Radio and Heritage FM in WA, Radio Alexandrina and 5 Triple Z in SA, 2RDJ, Yass FM and 2EAR FM in NSW, Coast FM, Noosa Community Radio, Fraser Coast Community Radio and 4BAY in QLD, as well as 3MDR, PBS FM, 979fm, 3WBC, 3WAY and OCR FM in VIC.

John McNamara moves up to #2 in the Amrap Regional Chart with the soulful single Bad Reputation. The charting track has received airplay support from across the country including Artsound in the ACT, City Park Radio in TAS, radioksa and 5 Triple Z in SA, Coast FM and Fraser Coast FM in QLD, 2BOB Radio, TLC FM and 2SEA in NSW, as well as Seymour FM, 3BBB, 3NRG, Eastern FM, #MGB Wilderness Radio, 3NOW, Yarra Valley FM, 96.5 Inner FM and 94.7 The Pulse in VIC.

Northern Territory-based singer Casii Williams rises to #3 in the Amrap Metro Chart with How Can I Live. The lush and soulful electronic track has been included on FBi Sydney’s New Music List, and Desert Divas Volume II, which features How Can I Live, is PBS FM Melbourne’s Feature Album of the Week and is also included on Triple R’s Soundscapes and 2SER Sydney’s Servin’ Up. The charting track has received nationwide airplay from CAAMA in NT, Gin Gin’s Own in QLD, 6HFM, Voice of The Avon, and Radio Mama in WA, Umeewarra Media, 5 Triple Z, Fleurieu FM, Tribe FM and Radio Alexandrina in SA, 2AIR, SWRFM, Eastside Radio, Nambucca Valley Radio, FBi Radio, Bay FM and 2BAR in NSW, as well as OCR FM, 96.5 Inner FM, Radio Murrindindi, Voice FM, Otways Community Radio, Tribe FM, 99.9 Voice FM and WMA fm in VIC.

Sarah Carroll and The Left Wing appears in the Amrap Regional Chart for the third week, taking out #3 with Star Parade. Melbourne-based six-piece The Pink Tiles are charting for the fourth week in-a-row in the Amrap Metro Chart, with Time For Love taking out #4.The Pink Tiles were invited to be a part of PBS FM Melbourne’s Drive Live extravaganza, with the highlights, including The Pink Tiles live-to-air set, available to listen to online here. Their latest album #1 Fan is PBS FM’s Breakfast Spread Feature Album of the Week and listed on Triple R’s Soundscape, with Time For Love also being included on SYN Radio’s Sweet 16, Edge Radio Hobart’s New Music List and RTRFM Perth’s Sound Selection. Innocent Eve takes out #4 in the Amrap Regional Chart this week, with their latest track Sisters. The country-folk fusion, featuring sublime harmonies, has received nationwide airplay from 2XX FM in Canberra, Radio Mama in WA, Fraser Coast FM and Gin Gin’s Own in QLD, 2RRR, Nambucca Valley Radio, Northside Radio, TLC FM and 2BAR in NSW, Radio Alexandrina, 5 Triple Z, Coast FM, Umeewarra Media and Fleurieu FM in SA, as well as 3NRG, 3WAY, 99.9 Voice FM, 96.5 Inner FM, Triple H, Whitehorse Boroondara FM and Otways Community Radio in VIC.

Batpiss hold onto #5 in the Amrap Metro Chart with their intense and powerful grot-rock track Weatherboard Man. WAAX make their debut in the Amrap Metro Chart with Nothing Is Always charting at #6. The furious and powerful rock track has been included on FBi Sydney’s New Music List, Edge Radio Hobart’s New Music List and 4ZZZ Brisbane’s Top 20, alongside further airplay from RTRFM Perth, 3MDR and 3WAY in VIC, as well as 2SEA, Yass FM and 2SER in NSW.

Dope Lemon moves up to #6 in the Amrap Regional Chart with Home Soon. Kit Warhurst makes his debut at #7 in the Amrap Metro Chart with Oliver Never Knew Sunshine. Kit dropped into PBS FM Melbourne’s studio to join Lyndelle on The Afterglow to chat about his debut solo album Colour Wheel, and also performed the charting track live-to-air which you can listen to here. Red Red Krovvy takes out #8 in the Amrap Metro Chart with Holiday appearing for the second week. The Melbourne band’s debut albumRed Red Krovvy has made 4ZZZ Brisbane’s Music Department Picks, with Holiday being included on SYN Radio Melbourne’s Sweet 16, alongside further airplay from 5 Triple Z in SA, 2EAR FM, Tank FM and 2SEA in NSW, as well as 3WAY, OCR FM, 3MDR, and 96.5 Inner FM in VIC.

IVOR S.K. moves up to #8 in the Amrap Regional Chart, with Take The Good With The Badreceiving airplay from Artsound in the ACT, Fraser Coast Community Radio in QLD, radioksa in SA, City Park Radio in TAS, 2NSB, 2NCR and 2CCR in NSW, as well as 3WBC, 3WAY, Seymour FM, 3BBB, Eastern FM, 3MGB, 3NRG, 3MDR, 96.5 Inner FM, 98.9 North West FM, and Yarra Valley FM in VIC.

Ali Barter re-enters the Amrap Metro Chart with Cigarette currently taking out #9. Ali was featured online on SYN Radio Melbourne Presents with Katherine to delve into her debut album A Suitable Girl, discuss the themes and inspiration behind her debut, and the accompanying zine’s she created to further explore issues of feminism, self-acceptance and creativity.
